How to distinguish CDI box with AC fired or CDI box with DC fired?
If headlights turn on without the engine running(with just the key on), it is a DC system. In the AC system, turning ?headlights on require the engine to be running. Another indication is, if the engine will only runs with a battery it is DC. If it will runs without a battery, it is a AC system.

What does the voltage regulator do?
This regulator has the task of converting the alternating voltage (AC) generated by the alternator into the direct voltage (DC) 12V used in the vehicle electrical system and keeping the voltage within a certain range.
The voltage regulator is also responsible for ensuring that the battery is charged and that the light bulbs do not burn out.

How do I know if the charge regulator can be defective?
- Incandescent lamps burn out all the time.
- Headlights get brighter and darker.
- The battery is constantly empty.
